Inclusion Criteria
all patients with confirmed diagnosis of metabolic syndrome, age = 18 years, which undergo a bariatric-surgical operation for a clinical indication
Exclusion Criteria
all patients with a relevant liver disease except NADLD or NASH, other life-threatening conditions, pregnant women, alcohol abuse (>30g for men, >20g for women), known drug abuse or participation in drug substitution program, weight loss > 5% 6 months prior to study inclusion, inability to consent

Name Time Method Definition of the composition of the T cell immune response in the liver, the fatty tissue and the peripheral blood in patients with metabolic syndrome and/or NAFLD. Correlation of these results with the incident of the disease, the disease activity and the progress of the disease.
