• Age > 18 years old
• Diagnosed of sepsis, severe sepsis and septic shock according to 1992 criteria.
• Admission to medical wards, a respiratory care unit or a medical intensive care unit less than 48 hours.
• Intubation and on nasogastric tube.
• Receive antibiotic less than 48 hours.
• Able to receive enteral feeding.
• Terminally ill patients.
• Pregnancy.
• Diarrhea or hematochezia.
• Short bowel disease.
• History of allergy to milk or soybean.
• Contraindication to enteral feeding.
• Immunocompromised (AIDS, malignant hemopathy, neutrophil count less than 500 per mm3, cytostatic chemotherapy during the past 3 months, before ICU admission)
