Adult (age > 18 years) patients with alopecia areata of the scalp of duration atleast 6 months with symmetrically distributed patches of hair loss on the scalp
1.Patients with alopecia areata with asymmetrically distributed patches of hair loss on scalp
2.Patients with a co-existent scalp or hair disorder
3.Patients with thrombocytopenia ( <1 lac/mm3) on baseline haematological evaluation
4.Patients with underlying systemic illness, including autoimmune disorders
5.Pregnant or lactating female patients
6.Patients not consenting to participate in the study

Name Time Method 1.Severity of alopecia tool score at visits 1, 2, 3 and 4 <br/ ><br> <br/ ><br>2.Percentage of dystrophic hair on dermoscopic photomicrograph at visits 1, 2, 3 and 4 <br/ ><br> <br/ ><br>3.Patient global assessment at visits 2, 3 and 4 <br/ ><br> <br/ ><br>4.mRNA expression profile of Th1, Th2, Th17 and T-regulatory cell specific-markers in the lesional skin at visits 1 and 4 <br/ ><br> <br/ ><br>Timepoint: Visits 1, 2, 3 and 4. Every visit is at one monthly interval.
