Inclusion Criteria

Current and former in- and outpatients in the clinic for geriatric psychiatry and psychotherapy at the Karl-Jaspers-Klinik.

Exclusion Criteria

Impairment of the capacity to freely determine their will at the time of consenting to participation in this study. Presence of an organic cognitive disorder, e.g. dementia, or psychotic disorder (chapter F02 of the ICD-10).

Primary Outcome Measures

The grounded theory approach does not allow a definition of outcomes. The goals of this study are (i) to generate new hypotheses capable of directing future research, (ii) relate these new findings and hypotheses to existentialist theories, and (iii) establish a grounded theory based approach as a method for analysis of therapeutic documentation.
