The effect of postoperative exercise in critical pathway on the length of hospital stay and recovery of colorectal cancer patients: Randomized Controlled Trial
- Conditions
- Neoplasms
- Registration Number
- KCT0003920
- Lead Sponsor
- Yonsei University
- Brief Summary
The mean of hospital stay was 7.08 days [95% confidence interval (CI) 6.62 days to 7.55days] in the exercise group, compared with 7.64 days (95%CI 7.21 days to 8.07 days) in the usual care group (mean difference, -0.64 days 95% CI, -1.26 to -0.01; p<0.05). Participants in the exercise group scored significantly higher than the usual care group ( p<0.05). In body composition factors, muscle mass has a significant difference between groups (change of mean difference; 0.53, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.04 to 1.02; p=0.03). The balance test ability (change of mean difference; 3.76, 95% CI; 0.77 to 6.75; p=0.02), and chair stand test capability (change of mean difference; 2.19, 95% CI; 1.33 to 3.05; p<0.001) also show that there was a significant difference in groups among fitness profiles. Also, There was an observed significant difference between groups was over changes in global health (change of mean difference; 17.68, 95% CI; 6.15 to 29.22; p<0.01).
