Inclusion Criteria

aged 20 to 70 years, American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status I-II, patients scheduled for arthroscopic shoulder surgery

Exclusion Criteria

patient refusal, presence of coagulopathy, infection at the site of the block, any neurological deficit in the surgical limb, severe lung disease, contralateral diaphragmatic paralysis, systemic glucocorticoid use, chronic opioid use, peptic ulcer disease, dibetes mellitus and a known allergy to ropivacaine.
