- •Healthy volunteers
Exclusion Criteria
- •Peripheral vascular disease
- •Regular use of medication
- •Acute illness (within 1 week of the study visits)
- •Any cardiac rhythm abnormality
- •Any condition affecting the autonomic nervous system (eg diabetes, autonomic neuropathy)

A randomised control trial investigating the effect of remote ischaemic preconditioning and glyceryl trinitrate on peri-operative myocardial injury in cardiac bypass surgery patients (ERIC-GTN study)We are investigating the phenomenon of ischaemic-reperfusion injury. Reperfusion of the ischaemic myocardium is known to cause further myocardial damage.
