Inclusion Criteria

  • Burnt patients with mechanical ventilation, between 14 and 75 years of age, with sinusal tachycardia (>100 bpm), admitted to our Burns Unit during an estimated period of 2 years.
  • Are the trial subjects under 18? yes
  • Number of subjects for this age range: 1
  • F.1.2 Adults (18-64 years) yes
  • F.1.2.1 Number of subjects for this age range 18
  • F.1.3 Elderly (>=65 years) yes
  • F.1.3.1 Number of subjects for this age range 1

Exclusion Criteria

  • Patients in whom beta-blockers are contraindicated.
  • Patients with beta-blocker treatment before admission.
  • Unsigned Informed Consent
