Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • •Burnt patients with mechanical ventilation, between 14 and 75 years of age, with sinusal tachycardia (\>100 bpm), admitted to our Burns Unit during an estimated period of 2 years.
  • •Are the trial subjects under 18? yes
  • •Number of subjects for this age range: 1
  • •F.1\.2 Adults (18\-64 years) yes
  • •F.1\.2\.1 Number of subjects for this age range 18
  • •F.1\.3 Elderly (\>\=65 years) yes
  • •F.1\.3\.1 Number of subjects for this age range 1

Exclusion Criteria

  • •Patients in whom beta\-blockers are contraindicated.
  • •Patients with beta\-blocker treatment before admission.
  • •Unsigned Informed Consent
