Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • Patients above the age of 60 years undergoing hip surgeries under spinal anaesthesia will be screened by a resident doctor for MMSE. (MMSE \>25\)

Exclusion Criteria

  • Age \< 60 years
  • Patients with MMSE \<25
  • Depression, Schziophrenia or Parkisonism.
  • History of Cerebrovascular accident, neurodegenerative disorders, cranial surgeries done, etc.
  • History of chronic alcoholism, substance abuse ( \<4weeks prior to hospitalization)
  • Patients on neuroactive drugs or appetite stimulants
  • Patients with pronounced hearing or visual loss
  • Patients who do speak in common languages (other than English, Kannada and Hindi.)
  • Treatment with or corticosteroids or immune\-modulators in previous 6 months.
