Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • •Patients \>\= 18 years of age with ischaemic or haemorrhagic stroke confirmed by neuroimaging, presenting within 24 hours of signs and symptom onset

Exclusion Criteria

  • •Patients with history of stroke and has a modified Rankin Scale score higher than 2
  • •Patients with an infection history within 2 weeks before stroke
  • •Patients having respiratory infections during hospital at admission
  • •Patients taking immunosuppressants or steroids
  • •Patients having malignancies or autoimmune diseases
  • •Patients not willing to give consent for the study
