Inclusion Criteria

1. Systemically healthy patients (Category: American Society of Anesthesiologists class 2 or less than 2)(15) between 18 – 60 years of age with maxillary teeth diagnosed with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis having lingering pain which is continuous in nature will be included in the study.

2. Tooth with moderate to deep caries, which shows VAS scale more than 3, will be included in the study.

3. A written informed consent will be taken from all the patients and only those patients ready to sign the consent form will be included in the study.

Exclusion Criteria

1. Patients with known hypersensitivity to lignocaine will be excluded from the study

2. Non-vital teeth /acute apical abscess / phoenix abscess that will give negative response to EPT will be excluded from the study.

3. Patients who had taken analgesic medication 12 hrs before the treatment will be excluded from the study

4. Patients with fractured or visibly cracked tooth, developmental anomalies, pathology or open apex
will be excluded from the study

5. Pregnant and lactating women will be excluded.

6. Medically compromised patients and patients with history to any substance abuse

will be excluded from the study.
