Inclusion Criteria

1 Criteria for the selection of the patients will

be based on the criteria suggested by Joint

National Committee 8

In patients aged less than 60 years with Systolic

Blood Pressure greater than 140 mmHg and

Diastolic Blood Pressure greater than 90 mm Hg

2 In patients aged more than 60 years with

Systolic Blood Pressure greater than 150mm Hg and

Diastolic Blood Pressure greater than 90 mmHg

Stages of Grade 1 Hypertension SBP 140 to 159 mm

Hg DBP 90 to 99 mmHg

3 Patients between 20 to 70 years age of either

sex

4 Patients fit for snehana karma

Exclusion Criteria

1 Known cases of Ischemic heart disease Coronary

heart disease Coronary artery disease Coarctation

of aorta

2 Renal failure Endocrine diseases

3 History of cerebral complications like

hypertensive encephalopathy cerebral hemorrhage,

convulsive seizures

4 Unsatisfactory control of diabetes mellitus or

diabetic complications like nephropathy,

neuropathy

5 Malignant hypertension

6 Pregnant and Lactating female patients

7 Patient on treatment for hypertension since 1

month

8 Patients with scalp disease or infection that

hampers the shiropichu procedure
