Inclusion Criteria

  • Pregnant women aged 18–40 years; who were in the 3rd trimester of pregnancy, between 27th and 39th gestational weeks; with regular follow-up with the obstetrician; and who had adequate cognitive function during pregnancy, without impairments that required absolute rest

Exclusion Criteria

  • Twin pregnancy; individuals with neuromotor impairment; arterial hypertension during pregnancy; Gestational Diabetes Mellitus; malnutrition; overweight, therefore, BMI between 25.00 and 29.99 kg/m2; confirmed or suspected diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 infection; with hyposalivation; subjects who were using or who used at some point in pregnancy antibiotics or any medication that could interfere with periodontal status and/or salivary flow, e.g., immunosuppressive, anticonvulsant or calcium channel-blocking drugs, such as cyclosporine, phenytoin or nifedipine, respectively; who were under orthodontic treatment or any dental treatment with another professional; participants with cavitated caries lesions; with severe dental wear; with diagnosis of stages I and IV of periodontitis; with multiple tooth loss, being more than two teeth per hemiarch; with self-reported systemic disease besides obesity; and users of alcohol, tobacco, or illicit drugs
