Inclusion Criteria

1.Patients with biopsy proven rectal carcinoma stages II & III receiving either short-course or long-course of radiotherapy will be included in this study.

2.Patients with ECOG performance status 0 to 3.

3.Absolute granulocyte count more than 2000/mm3.

4.Platelet count greater than 100,000/mm3.

5.Renal function tests and Liver function tests are within normal limits.

Exclusion Criteria

1.Patients with metastatic disease on diagnostic imaging during the course of study.

2.Patients with previous history of radiotherapy& treatment for GIT malignancy & history of chemotherapy.

3.Patients with history of treatment for any malignancy.

4.Associated serious medical illness like xerodermapigmentosa, renal failure, cardiac failure, hepatic failure.

5.Not giving consent.
