Name Time Method Smartphone Addiction Scale (SmAS) score Baseline, immediate post-intervention and 2 weeks post intervention SmAS is a short 10 items validated scale measuring smartphone addiction. The minimum value is 10 and the maximum value is 60 for this scale.
- Secondary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method Average compensation acceptable to participants (in theory) to stop using smartphone for 1 day Baseline, Immediate post-intervention (upto 24 hours), 2 weeks post intervention Essential use includes work- or school-related tasks and basic communication (e.g., texting or calling to coordinate plans). Non-essential use includes things like social media, gaming, streaming and online shopping. Although participants will be informed this is a hypothetical scenario, they will be asked to respond as if the offer were real.
24 hour smartphone use time Baseline, 2 weeks post intervention Participants self-report their screen time recorded by their phone's built-in usage data.
Perceived danger of excessive smartphone use scale score Baseline, immediate post-intervention (upto 24 hours) and 2 weeks post exposure Participants self report their Perceived danger of excessive smartphone use on a 0-10 integer scale. 0 indicates "not dangerous at all" and 10 indicates "extremely dangerous."
