Inclusion Criteria
One of the following surgical procederes (conventional/laparoscopic) is planned:
- thyroid resection
- gastric resection
- pancreatic resection
- liver resection
- colorectal resection
- taking of bloodsamples has to be ensured for the first five postoperative days
Exclusion Criteria
- liver cirrhosis
- presence of an acute inflammatory process
- medullary thyroid cancer

Name Time Method Measurement of PCT serum-levels on the first five postoperative days
- Secondary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method - Measurement of CRP levels and number of leucocytes on the first five postoperative days. This is performed to evaluate differences between procalcitonin and these parameters.<br><br>- Relationship between increase of pct-levels and postoperative complications<br><br>- Relationship between increase of parameters (PCT, CRP und leukocytes) and postopertive SIRS. For that reason also SIRS parameters are detected.
