Brief Summary

Previous studies have identified several riskfactors that predict difficult laryngoscopy and difficult intubation usingconventional direct laryngoscopy. There are limited studies evaluatingrisk factors for difficult VL. These previous studies have been conductedusing the Glidescope VL. There is paucity of literature with regardto risk factors that predict difficult C-MAC VL guided TI.

Predictive indices for difficult intubation willhelp in warning the clinician of difficult laryngeal exposure and trachealintubation when obvious risk factors are not evident so that safer intubationstrategies can be adopted. The study hypothesis is that airway characteristicscan predict difficult videolaryngoscopy-guided tracheal intubation in adultpatients undergoing elective surgery under general anaesthesia. The aim of thisstudy is to determine airway characteristics that predict difficult CMAC videolaryngoscopy guided tracheal intubation in adult patients undergoing electivesurgery under general anaesthesia.
