Patients aged between 18 and 70
Patients undergoing elective EGD
Patients undergoing topical anesthesia for EGD
American Society of Anesthesiologist (ASA) physical status class I/II
Able to complete questionnaires
Patients undergoing general anesthesia or TIVA for EGD
Patients at risk of aspiration such full stomach, gut obstruction, GI bleeding, achalasia, hiatal hernia
Allergy to lidocaine
Patients with head injuries
Maxillo-facial injuries
History of eye/ ear/nose/throat surgery in 6 months ago
Drunk/intoxicated patients
Severe COPD/asthma
Previous pneumothorax
Pregnancy
History of allergic to study drugs
Severe systemic medical diseases
BMI > 35 kg/m2
