Inclusion Criteria

Individuals of both sexes with age > 12 years who are not taking treatment for acne vulgaris presenting to the Dermatology outpatient department of Pak Emirates Military Hospital, will be recruited as cases.
Controls: Age and gender matched individuals presenting to Dermatology outpatient department of Pak Emirates Military Hospital including
1.Attendants of patients
2.Hospital workers including paramedical staff, ward boys, janitors.

Exclusion Criteria

Cases
1.Diabetes mellitus
2.PCOS
3.Obesity (BMI greater than or equal to 30)
4.Individuals who are taking oral isotretinoin and those who have taken isotretnoin in previous 6 months
5.Alcohol consumption
6.Acne caused by use of steroids
7.Individuals taking antihyperlipidemic drugs
8.Individuals taking oral contraceptives
9.Pregnant women
10.Lactating women
