Patients group
(1) 65 years of age or older
(2) who had complaints of dysphagia symptoms such as swallowing difficulty
(3) who had tested VFSS for those symptoms
control group (70 people recruited in previous study)
(1) 65 years of age or older
(2) without dysphagia symptom
(3) who had not been diagnosed with pneumonia in the prior year
Patients group
(1) a history of brain disease
(2) a history of head, neck, or cervical spine surgery
(3) tracheostomy
(4) a history of chemotherapy or radiotherapy due to cancer
(5) dysphagia in the oral or esophageal phase confirmed on VFSS (to exclude non-pharyngeal dysphagia patients)
control group
(1) a history of brain disease
(2) a history of head, neck, or cervical spine surgery
(3) tracheostomy
(4) a history of chemotherapy or radiotherapy due to cancer
