1.Individuals between age of 18 - 60 years.
2.Participants who have not received periodontal therapy, in the previous six months.
3.Participants who readily give informed consent for the study.
4.Systemically healthy patients.
5.Participants with gingival index less than equal to 2mm, plaque index less than equal to 2mm, clinical attachment level equal to 0, probing depth less than equal to 3mm will be included as periodontally healthy.
6.Participants with gingival index more than 2mm, plaque index more than 2mm, probing depth less than equal to 4mm, mostly horizontal bone loss, clinical attachment level 1-2 mm affecting more than 30% teeth involved with radiographic bone loss extending to the coronal-third (less than 15%) and no teeth loss due to periodontitis will be included as Stage 1 grade A periodontitis
1.Consumption of tobacco in any form and alcoholics.
2.Pregnant and lactating females.
3.Participants who have received anti-inflammatory, antibiotic and steroid drugs in previous three months.

- Primary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method 1.To determine the levels of NLRP3 levels in gingival crevicular fluid of periodontally healthy patients.

2.To determine the levels of NLRP3 levels in gingival crevicular fluid of stage 1 grade A periodontitis patients.

3. To determine the levels of NLRP3 levels in gingival crevicular fluid after scaling and root planning in periodontitis patients.

4.To compare levels of NLRP3 in gingival crevicular fluid of periodontally healthy and stage 1 grade A periodontitis patients.

5. To compare the level of NLRP3 in gingival crevicular fluid before and after scaling and root planning in stage 1 grade A periodontitis patients.

Timepoint: At baseline and 4 weeks after scaling and root planing
- Secondary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method To correlate gingival crevicular fluid levels of NLRP3 with clinical parameters like plaque index (PI), Gingival index (GI), Probing depth (PD), Clinical attachment level (CAL), Bleeding on probing (BOP).Timepoint: Plaque index, gingival index, pocket probing depth and clinical attachment level in patients with chronic periodontitis will be taken at baseline and then 4 weeks after scaling and root planing
