Age: 18 to 6o years
American Society of Anaesthesiologists Physical Status (ASA-PS) I and II
BMI < 30
Surgery under general anaesthesia with endotracheal tube insertion
ASA physical status more than 2
Anticipated Difficult airway as assessed by a Mallampatti grading score (MPG ) greater than 2
Oesophageal pathology
Oral or oropharyngeal or larngopharyngeal or laryngeal anatomic abnormalities or diseases
Bleeding disorders
Risk of aspiration (full stomach, bowel obstruction, pregnancy, gastroesophageal
reflux disease [GERD], and diabetic gastroparesis)
Emergency surgery
contraindication for CP (suspected cricotracheal injury, active vomiting, and unstable cervical spine injuries)
