Adult patients (18-65 years) of either sex, of ASA physical status I or II, who are scheduled for elective surgery under general anesthesia with endotracheal intubation.
1. Predicted difficult airway (modified Mallampati score of 3 or 4, thyro mental distance <65 mm, inter incisor gap <35 mm, limited neck motion, and body mass index >30 kg m–2),
2. Anatomical abnormalities or diseases in the neck, upper airway, pharynx, or esophagus, history of neck or esophageal surgery,
3. Patients at an increased risk of pulmonary aspiration due to intestinal obstruction or pregnancy.
4. Patients with known stenosis or bruit of the left carotid artery, and/or history of stroke or acute coronary syndrome in the preceding 3 months will be excluded.
