Inclusion Criteria

written and informed consent,

patients aged between 20 and 50 years posted for elective surgery under general anesthesia.

ASA (American society of anesthesiologists) grade I and grade II

pre-operative serum magnesium within normal limits

Exclusion Criteria

Consent refusal

ASA grade III and IV

Abnormal levels of serum magnesium and serum calcium

History of adverse drug reactions to relevant drugs

ASA grade III or above

contraindication to administration of relevant drugs

BMI more than 25 or less than 18
