Inclusion Criteria

Prospectively One hundred patients undergoing open or laparoscopic appendectomy will be included in this study. Age more than one year is included Age from 1 year to 15 are defined as children
Diagnosis of Appendicitis will be confirmed either by operative finding, when there is doubt appendectomy specimen is sent for histopathological examination
A swab from the inflamed appendicular lumen, surrounding exudates or pus, or abscess cavity will be taken. The swab will be sent immediately for aerobic and anaerobic culture to detect any bacterial growth and to assess its antibiotic sensitivity.

Exclusion criteria
we will Exclude appendix found to be normal at appendicectomy, immunocompromised cases, associated chronic specific infection or Crohns, and suspected cases of malignancy
