1- The women aged 20-50-years; affected with moderate to severe major depressive disorder diagnosed by a psychiatrist via structured clinical interview based on the fifth version of the diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders (DSM-5) (American Psychiatric Association, 2013), and the minimum score of 20 on the Beck Depression Inventory–II (Beck, Steer, & Brown, 1996). 2- Not being involved in other mental treatments and exercise programs during the study. 3- Declare her willingness to take part in the research and sign the informed consent statement.
1- Simultaneous affliction with other important mental disorders (such as schizophrenia, bipolar affective disorder and drug and alcohol abuse). 2- Having somatic problems affecting depression (such as hypothyroidism and diabetes mellitus). 3- Having somatic problems restricting physical activity (e.g., cardiovascular and musculoskeletal problems).

Name Time Method Depression. Timepoint: Once before and once after the intervention (three months later). Method of measurement: Beck Depression Inventory-II.

Method of measurement: The Persian version of the 10-item Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10) (Cohen, Kamarck, & Mermelstein, 1983).;Blood Cortisol. Timepoint: Once before and once after the intervention (three months later) between 8-9 a.m. Method of measurement: Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assays (ELISA) with the Monobind Kit, made in USA.;Coping Strategies. Timepoint: Once before and once after the intervention (three months later). Method of measurement: The Persian version of Coping Inventory for Stressful Situations (CISS).;Quality of life. Timepoint: Once before and once after the intervention (three months later). Method of measurement: The Persian version of World Health Organization Quality of life-BREF (WHOQOL-BREF), (Quality of life Group, World Health Organization, 1996).
