Children with poor appetite in absence of any medical cause
1. Hemoglobin <= 9gm/dl
2. TLC < 4000 or > 11000 /mm3
3. ESR > 20 mm
4. Overweight/ Obesity
5. Fever within last 2 weeks
6. Acute or chronic infections
7. Painful oro- dental conditions
8. Congenital or acquired heart disease
9. Renal disease
10. Gastrointestinal/Liver disease
11. Pulmonary disease
12. CNS disease
13. Malignancies
14. Collagen vascular disease
15. Iron / vitamin / mineral supplements (
including herbal drugs) within 4 weeks.
16. Medications affecting appetite e.g.,
antibiotics, anticonvulsants etc.
17. Corticosteroids or antihistamines within
2 weeks
18. Recipients of Unani or Ayurvedic medicines
within 4 weeks.
19. Users of any tobacco products (including
Gutka and Paan Masala).
20. Drug abusers
