Age over 19 years of age with symptoms of dry eye syndrome with the meibomian gland dysfunction. The diagnosis of dry eye syndrome was made by a single ophthalmologist based on the guideline proposed by Korean Corneal Disease Study Group (KCDSG). Patients who diagnosed under level III DED without history of consumption of omega-3 dietary supplementation in 3 months were enrolled this trial.
Patients who diagnosed level IV DED by KCDSG guideline, allergic conjunctivitis, severe ocular infection and inflammation were excluded. Past history of ocular surgery in 3 months, systemic (anti-anxiety, anti-histamine, anti-depressant) or topical medications that could affect tear film or meibomian gland function were also excluded. Other exclusion criteria included pregnancy, lactating mothers.
