Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria
- •All patients admitted to EICU with clinically suspected VAP based on following criteria: Mechanical Ventilation \>\=48 hrs, newly appeared/ evolving CXR infilterate and \>\= 2 of the following criteria :\- temperature( \>\= 38\.5®c ) or hypothermia ( \<36\.5®c ), leukocytosis \>104/ml or leucopenia \<4\.103/ml; purulent tracheal secretions; PaO2/FiO2 \< 300
Exclusion Criteria
- •a. Ongoing pneumonia
- •b. Presence of subcutaneous emphysema or thoracic
- •c. Contraindications to fibreoptic bronchoscopy.
- •d. Patients with previous H/O COPD, interstitial
- •lung disease.
- •e. Patients who will die within 24 hours will be
- •excluded from the analysis.
