This is a study meant to observe the effect of two drugs, magnesium sulfate and dexmeditomidine, in reducing the requirement of other drugs used in general anesthesia.

Inclusion Criteria

1. American society of anesthesiologists(ASA) physical status I and II

2. Scheduled for elective laparoscopic cholecystectomy(maximum duration 2hrs).

Exclusion Criteria

1. Hepatic, renal,respiratory disorders.

2. Seizure disorder,endocrinal,hematological disorders.

3. Obesity(BMI >30)

4. Prior neuromuscular disease

5. Any degree of heart block

6. Chronic use of opioids

7. Pregnancy

8. Prior treatment with calcium channel blockers and betablockers.

9. Patients receiving magnesium supplementation.
