Pregnant lady having B.P. > 140/90 mm Hg to <= 160/110 mm of Hg for the first time
during pregnancy (that is developing after 20 weeks)
Pregnant lady having rise of systolic B.P. at least 30 mm Hg or rising of diastolic B.P. at
least 15 mm Hg over the previous known B.P. or rising of mean arterial pressure (MAP)
of 20 mm Hg over previous known MAP or MAP > 105 mm Hg.
Associated symptoms Shirashoola (Headache), Shotha (oedema), Anidra (insomnia)
Gestational age 20 weeks to 32 weeks (as measured by last menstrual period or dating
ultrasound)
Patient not taking any antihypertensive therapy
Pre-eclampsia (persistent proteinuria > 30 mg / dl or > +1 in dipstick or > 0.3 gm protein
in 24 hour urine collection or urinary protein:creatinine ratio of > 0.3 in atleast two
random clean catch urinesamples along with hypertension)
Eclampsia (pre-eclampsia with convulsion)
Patients with chronic hypertension, essential hypertension and chronic hypertension super imposed pre-eclampsia
Known multiple gestation
Known Rh incompatibility
Known lethal or major foetal anomaly
Patients having systemic diseases i.e. Gestational diabetes, hyperemesis gravidarum,
hypothyroidism, Cardiac disease, Liver disease etc.
Patients taking Anti-psychotic medications
