Patients: Caucasian males and females aged >18 and <70 years scheduled for hip or ankle joint arthroplasty due to osteoarthritis
Controls: Healthy male and female caucasian individuals aged >18 and <70 years

Exclusion Criteria

Patients: Age <18 or >69 years and bone fracture as reason for arthroplasty
Controls: Age <18 or >69 years
