All consecutive patients who underwent resection for a cancer located in the transverse colon between 2003 and 2019 were reviewed.
The exclusion criteria were bowel obstruction, bowel perforation, adjacent organ invasion, distant metastases, familial polyposis coli and inflammatory bowel diseases, gastrointestinal disease requiring surgical intervention, concurrent or previous malignant tumor and a history of malignant disease within 5 years, preoperative chemotherapy, and severe medical illness.
