Inclusion Criteria

•Presenting to the Pediatric department of ESI hospital with first episode of unprovoked, afebrile generalized tonic clonic or tonic, or partial seizures (or suspected seizures)

•Neurologically normal children

No development delay on history and no evidence of Neuroregression

Normal head circumference

No abnormal neurological findings

Normal fundus examination

Exclusion Criteria

1. Status epilepticus;

2. Seizures associated with

oan acute CNS infection (e.g., meningitis, encephalitis),

ohead injury, or

osystemic illness known to be associated with seizures (e.g., Shigella encephalopathy, SSPE);

3. Admitted for a suspicion of seizure but discharged with an alternated diagnosis e.g., breath-holding spell, pseudoseizure;

4. Recognizable dysmorphism or neurocutaneous syndrome; and

5. Persistent alteration of mental status or failure to return to baseline after the seizure
