Adult patients undergoing cardiac surgery
Elective or semi-elective cardiac surgical procedure
On-pump cardiac surgery
Age <= 75 years

Exclusion Criteria

Age >75 years
Preoperative use of systemic corticosteroids
Urgent cardiac surgery
Type 1 diabetes
Sepsis
Endocarditis
