Inclusion Criteria
Disease group
1. age >/= 18 years
2. chronic kidney disease defined by structural or functional abnormality
Healthy volunteers
1. age >/= 18 years
2. eGFR >/= 90 ml/min/1.73 m2
3. no underlying disease
Exclusion Criteria
1. on medication affecting platelet function, and coagulation system.
2. Hematocrit < 25%, Platelet < 100,000/cu.mm.
3. Diseases: platelet dysfunction (chronic myeloid leukemia), von Willebrand disease
4. on renal replacement therapy
