Inclusion Criteria
- •Following appropriate counseling and informed consent, the study will include all children and adolescents between the ages of 5 and 17 with a spinal deformity and SMA or another underlying condition who are undergoing surgical correction in the Department of Pediatric Orthopedics at UMG.
Exclusion Criteria
- •Patients who do not meet the criteria listed above or who do not consent to participate in the study are excluded.
Arms & Interventions
Group 1: For patients with SMA undergoing spinal fusion surgery, the bone and cartilage tissue obtained during the procedure, as well as blood, urine, and sputum samples, will be analyzed; in addition, patient data and clinical X-ray, MRI, and CT images (which are routinely obtained for the surgeries) will be evaluated.
Intervention: Group 1: For patients with SMA undergoing spinal fusion surgery, the bone and cartilage tissue obtained during the procedure, as well as blood, urine, and sputum samples, will be analyzed; in addition, patient data and clinical X-ray, MRI, and CT images (which are routinely obtained for the surgeries) will be evaluated.
