age group between 18 to 65 years.
Patients undergoing below knee surgeries of 1-2 hrs with haemoglobin atleast 9gm/dl.
patients belonging to ASA(american society of anaesthesiologist) grade I,II and III.
Patients not willing to participate in the study.
Uncooperative patients.
Patients with chronic pain or on long term analgesics.
Any known hypersensitivity or contraindication to ropivacaine and dexmedetomidine.
Local pathology at the site of injection or disability limiting the performance of the block.
Pregnant, lactating mothers.
Inadequate block necessitating institution of general anaesthesia.
