Adult patients; with a minimum age of 18 years; attended at the Institution's emergency room for superficial wounds in the hand and fingers; who agreed with the informed consent form; were included. Lesions smaller than 10 cm2 (1000 mm2) were inserted in which the second intention was the initial option of the medical assistent. Option based on the loss of tissue due to trauma or the impossibility of complete primary closure of the edges of the wound and without exposure of bone; nerve; vessels or tendons.
Patients with clinical signs of infection; who did not adhere to the treatment with evidence of inadequate hygiene of the lesion; in disagreement with medical advice; abandonment of treatment; development of an adverse reaction to the products used in both groups; were excluded from the study.
