1.Aged 18 years and above
2.Patients of both genders will be included in the study
3.Patients with the diagnosis of chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis for at least 6 weeks
4.Elevated baseline serum phosphorus ( > 5.5 mg/dl)
1.Significant gastrointestinal disorder (including known active peptic ulcer, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, irritable bowel syndrome, GI motility disorder)
2.Current malignancy
3.Pregnant and lactating women
4.Known hypersensitivity to phosphate binders
5.Other drugs affecting phosphorus metabolism (steroids, alcohol intake and use of other phosphate binders)
