Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • •Patients with chronic periodontitis will be diagnosed according to the criteria of 1999 AAP
  • •1\.Attachment loss of \>\= 5 mm at more than 30% of the sites
  • •2\.Patients with bleeding on probing
  • •3\.Patients with \>\= 20 functional teeth
  • •Patients with Hypothyroidism:
  • •1\.Based on lab examination of TSH, fT3, fT4 in hypothyroidism patients
  • •2\.Thyroid function test
  • •Normal values:
  • •1\.TSH(serum) \-0\.4 to 4\.5 mU/L
  • •2\.fT4 \- 9\.0 to 25\.0 Pmol/L

Exclusion Criteria

  • •They suffer from any systemic condition except hypothyroidism that could affect the progress of periodontal diseases.
  • •Smokers and former Smokers
  • •Alcoholics and former alcoholics
  • •Obese, pregnant and lactating woman
  • •Subjects over 60 years of age
  • •Patients presenting any kind of inflammatory disease within last 3 months
  • •They had received professional periodontal treatment during the 6 month period prior to the study.
