For the patients undergoing TURP (A laproscopic surgery for reducing the size the prostate) for which spinal anaesthesia is given. We are giving ephedrine (a vasopressor) which will reduce the incidence of decrease in blood pressure which is the side effects of spinal anaesthesia.

1. ASA I , II
2. Diagnosed case of BPH age 40-90 years scheduled for TURP
3. Locally advanced CA prostate with refractory urinary retention scheduled for TURP.
1. Patients’ refusal or any contraindication for spinal anaesthesia
2. Severe cardiac disease graded as NYHA class III – IV.
3. Patients with the history of coagulopathy.
4. Patients with closed angle glaucoma, pheochromocytoma, idiopathic hypertrophic subaortic stenosis.
5. Patients on MAO inhibitors and linezolid.
6. Patients with tachyarrhythmias and associated cardiac conditions.
