•Medical necessity of invasive blood pressure monitoring (i.e. inserting arterial line) prior to the induction of general anesthesia.

•- age < 18 years
•- pregnancy
•- body weight > 120 kg
•- ASA score > 4
•- emergency operation
•- hemodynamic instability requiring medical intervention prior to induction (vasopressors, inotropes etc.)
•- cerebrovascular disease
•- known carotid stenosis
•- LVEF < 30%
•- COPD GOLD 4
•- CKD with creatinine > 2,25 mg/dl or need for chronic dialysis
•- liver cirrhosis CHILD B oder C
•- ACS = 3 months prior
•- acute hematological malignancy (acute leukemias, lymphomas)
•- ongoing chemotherapy
•- history of Raynaud's syndrome
•- systemic sclerosis
•- systemic vasculitides
•- peripheral artery disease
•additional exclusion criteria for patients receiving esketamine:
•- hyperthyroidism
•- ACS = 12 months prior
•- PCI or CABG = 12 months prior
•- hydrocephalus
•- schizophrenia
•- depression
•- substance use disorders
•- bipolar disorder
•- blood pressure > 190 mmHg systolic upon arrival in the holding bay
