Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • •Medical necessity of invasive blood pressure monitoring (i.e. inserting arterial line) prior to the induction of general anesthesia.

Exclusion Criteria

  • •\- age \< 18 years
  • •\- pregnancy
  • •\- body weight \> 120 kg
  • •\- ASA score \> 4
  • •\- emergency operation
  • •\- hemodynamic instability requiring medical intervention prior to induction (vasopressors, inotropes etc.)
  • •\- cerebrovascular disease
  • •\- known carotid stenosis
  • •\- LVEF \< 30%
  • •\- COPD GOLD 4
