Inclusion criteria are: 1) between ages of 18 and 70 years old, 2) clinical diagnosis of initial stroke, 3) at least 2 weeks post-stroke, 4) patient are required to be able to walk at least 10 feet with a maximum of one assistive person.
Exclusion criteria are : 1) uncontrolled hypertension or cardiac diseases, 2) serious chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or oxygen dependence, 3) severe orthopedic limitations (including weight bearing pain), 4) claudication while walking, 5) history of deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism within 6 months, 6) any medical or psychiatric problem that would affect participation, and 7) patients who can not cooperate.
