In this study, titled "Effect of McGill Core Exercises on Throwing Velocity, Grip Strength, Upper Extremity Power and Stability in Adolescent Cricket Players," the study aims to explore the impact of McGill spine stability exercise program on adolescent cricket players, aged 10 to 19 years of age. McGill proposed safe spine stabilizing exercises to help to achieve appropriate levels of activation of all back and abdominal muscles as an effective, easy low-cost intervention. Previous literature of positive correlations between the core musculature with grip strength, upper limb stability and power, there arises a need to find out the effectiveness of McGill exercises as a foundation training for adolescent cricket players wanting to build a career in cricket as it is an area unexplored.

This study has acquired the ethical committee approval letter from the Ethics Committee of Dr. Balabhai Nanavati Hospital Mumbai.

The study is a randomized-controlled trial with 2 groups of 24 players each, a total of 48 cricket player participants who will take part in a 4-weeks program, thrice weekly of 12 sessions in total.

This program includes sessions that work on components like strength, endurance and stability exercises.

Participants will undergo assessments for throwing velocity, grip strength of dominant hand, upper extremity power and stability before and after the program. This study will analyze its data using SPSS, with a significance level set at p < 0.05 to understand the impact of McGill exercises.

This research has the potential to investigate a practical, time-efficient solution for improving spine and core musculature balance and stability on-field along with regular training exercises without the use of expensive training equipment.

入选标准

  • Cricketers playing 3 times per week for 1 to 2 hours per training
  • Minimum of 1 year of play experience, with knowledge of the game.

排除标准

  • Cricketers with any current episode of lower back pain for three months
  • Discomfort contracting the core muscles
  • Any musculoskeletal injury in past 6 months
  • Any other associated neurological, cardio respiratory disorders which may hamper their cricket performance
  • Those who are regularly participating in overhead sports other than cricket.
