Inclusion Criteria
1. patient with diabetes mellitus type 2
2. treated or used to be treated with Metformin (immediate release)
3. Thai patients, aged > 18 years old
Exclusion Criteria
1. patients who withdraw metformin due to other reasons which was not gastrointestinal side effect
2. patients with irritable bowel syndrome
3. patients with inflammatory bowel disease
4. patients with cirrhosis child B or C
5. patients with advanced stage of cancer
6. patient with AIDS
7. pregnant patients
