简要总结
This study aims to understand the nature and patterns of traffic offences committed by youth aged 18–25 years in the Chennai Metropolitan Area. Using a mixed-methods approach, the study will assess risky driving and riding behaviours, mental health vulnerabilities, substance use, ADHD and psychosocial risk factors through standardised quantitative tools, along with in-depth qualitative interviews with a purposive sub-sample of youth offenders. Key informant interviews and focus group discussions with police officers, judicial officers and public prosecutors will further explore enforcement challenges, deterrence issues and systemic factors influencing youth traffic offences. The findings from this assessment will guide the development of a structured intervention program addressing the psychosocial and mental health needs of youth traffic offenders within the applicable legal and jurisprudential frameworks.
