All Adult patients aged over 18 years presenting with COVID-19 illness and having underlying Chronic Kidney disease admitted to Kasturba Hospital, Manipal during the COVID-19 2nd wave between 01/03/2021-31/05/2021.
Case definitions
Persons with chronic kidney disease â?? which is defined by the KDIGO as â??abnormalities in kidney structure or function for 3 months or more with health implications satisfying either of the 2 criteria for CKD (either of the following present for > 3months).â??
A.â??One or more markers of kidney damage namely albuminuria {Urine albumin excretion rate (AER) >30 mg/24 hours; Albumin Creatinine Ratio (ACR) >30 mg/g [ >3 mg/mmol]}, urine sediment abnormalities, electrolyte, and other abnormalities due to tubular disorders, abnormalities detected by histology, structural abnormalities detected by imaging, history of kidney transplantation.â??
B.â??eGFR of <60 ml/min/1.73 m2 based on the Chronic Kidney Disease Epidemiology Collaboration (CKD-EPI) Equation.â??
AND in whom COVID-19 has been diagnosed using Reverse Transcriptase â?? Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) or a rapid antigen test (RAT) have been included in this study.
