All children between 1 month to 12 years getting hospitalized with Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) as per WHO clinical case definition:
1. Children between ages 1 month to 12 years with the acute onset of fever.
2. Fever should be associated with change in mental status such as confusion, disorientation, coma or inability to talk.
3. And/Or new onset of seizures.
1. Children who are known cases of epilepsy.
2. Children with previously diagnosed metabolic/genetic disorders.
3. Children who are known cases of febrile seizures.
4. Patients leaving against medical advice (LAMA)/ discharge on request/ absconding.
