- •The subjects had either been admitted to or regularly visited the target institutions, and were over the age of 65 at the time of giving consent.

- •Exclusion criteria for the subjects were: (i) those clearly suffering from dehydration, and (ii) those for whom investigation into applicable items on the check sheet was impossible even when carried out by another person (rather than the subject themselves).
